Ever stare into the fridge, see wilted greens, and sigh? You're not alone.
Food wastage, in fact, is a global monster and people everywhere have been dealing with the guilt of wasting food for eons.
With the rise in global hunger, and need for a healthy and sustainable world, it’s time we become the heroes we need when it comes to combating food waste.
Think of it like this: food waste is like throwing away money and precious resources. Plus, it creates a big environmental footprint.
Here are some practices that have helped me combat food wastage in my own kitchen:
Before hitting the grocery store, make a meal plan for the week. This helps avoid impulse buys and ensures you only buy what you'll use.
Organize your fridge like a pro! Use the "First In, First Out" (FIFO) method. Older items in the front, newer ones in the back. This prevents forgotten veggies wilting in the drawer.
We all love a hearty meal, but cooking just enough helps avoid overflowing plates (and overflowing bins!). Buy what you need and cook all that you can eat.
Did you overcook? Consider sharing with neighbors or donating to a local food bank. Every morsel saved is a victory!
Small changes in our kitchens can lead to big changes for our planet. Let's become mindful eaters and responsible warriors against food waste! ⚔️
